WES Family, Friends, and Community,
I am reaching out to you in regards to the passing of one of our precious students, Nick Speer. Our hearts are heavy as we grieve over the loss of this precious soul. We ask for you to lift up his family, friends, and loved ones during this sorrowful time. Losing someone so young is hard to understand. However, we can have peace in knowing that he is in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support that has poured into our school today as well as the days to come. Everyone from the Martin County School District which included MCMS, MCHS, Eden Elem., Inez Elem., the BOE to the Sheriff's Department, Ambulance Services, Pastor Brent Haney, all provided counseling services, food, along with love and support. We are beyond grateful and blessed to have such a loving community who reaches out to meet the needs of our students as well as our staff.
Please know that we want to continue to provide support to our students and staff during this time. The Crisis Response Team will continue to be available to meet with our students and staff at WES to assist those dealing with any feelings they may be having. Our Crisis Response Team members will also be available at any time during the day to help a student or staff member if they feel a more urgent need to talk with someone. Our Crisis Response team includes counselors, school psychologist, school nurse, and principal. I want to always encourage those students who may be particularly upset, perhaps even struggling with a death in the family or of a friend, to talk with Crisis Response Team members.
Continue to pray for all of us, especially Nick’s Speer’s family and friends in the days to come. We will always hold Nick close to our hearts. He has made an everlasting impact on all of our lives. May God Bless each and everyone of you.
