Martin County Middle School hosted their annual Operation Preparation event on Friday, March 24th. Operation Preparation is for eighth grade students and focuses on college and career readiness. Along with a career fair, MCMS added a reality store and college and career pathways section to the program. Based on their career of choice, students in the reality store were expected to pay bills and budget their monthly income. In the college and career pathway section, students had the opportunity to talk with several local college and university representatives about programs, the admissions process, scholarships, and cost of tuition. Mrs. Williams from Martin County ATC and Big Sandy Community Action Program career advisor Kayla Jude were available to discuss college and career opportunities available to Martin County students. Finally, students were able to visit booths with representatives from a variety of careers and occupations and obtain information about their fields of interest. MCMS would like to thank each and every person who helped make Operation Preparation a wonderful experience.
